Role Description

NX Engineering Srl is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in the renewable energy sector and/or electrical grid infrastructure, supporting the Energy and Power Systems business units.

The candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination and supervision of civil and structural works for projects related to photovoltaic plants, BESS, energy facilities and grid infrastructure.

The role will act as a key reference for the civil and structural scope of projects, working closely with electrical, mechanical and permitting teams to ensure consistency between design, authorisations and construction.

The candidate will report directly to the BU Manager and interact with the Permitting Manager, Project Managers and the other disciplines involved, ensuring the technical, regulatory and management accuracy of civil works.

Key Responsibilities

• Civil and structural design and engineering for grid infrastructure, including foundations, plinths, bases for cabins, substations or BESS containers, support structures, pavements and ancillary civil works.
• Preliminary site analysis, including interpretation of geotechnical and topographic surveys, soil and hydrological investigations, assessment of environmental, geological, landscape and regulatory constraints, and definition of civil requirements according to the project context.
• Production of technical deliverables, including CAD/BIM drawings, structural calculations, layouts and site plans, technical specifications, bills of quantities and material estimates.
• Preparation of quotations, cost and time estimates for the civil scope, civil works budgets, civil activity schedules and support during bidding and tender phases.
• Multidisciplinary coordination with electrical and mechanical engineering, project management, procurement, site management, suppliers, contractors and clients, ensuring consistency between civil works and the other project elements.
• Site supervision and construction management, including progress monitoring, quality control, verification of compliance with design, regulations and company standards, as well as safety and environmental requirements.
• Preparation of technical and administrative documentation, including progress reports, testing and inspection reports, as-built documentation, variation management and documentation for authorities.
• Technical support during approval and permitting phases, interface with local and authorising bodies, management of constraints and regulatory checks.
• Mentoring and technical support for junior resources or technicians involved in the civil scope, promoting knowledge transfer and internal standardisation.

Requirements

• Proven experience, at least 6–10 years, in the design and supervision of civil and structural works, ideally in complex infrastructure contexts such as foundations, networks, substations, plants and civil works for utilities.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong command of design tools and structural calculation software.
• In-depth knowledge of technical standards, building regulations, safety regulations, environmental legislation and specific standards for electrical and grid infrastructure.
• Ability to prepare bills of quantities, specifications, material estimates, budgets and schedules for the civil scope.
• Ability to manage civil design from preliminary phases through to as-built documentation and construction supervision.
• Ability to coordinate interfaces with electrical and mechanical disciplines, procurement, site teams, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational, planning and autonomous management skills for complex projects.
• Leadership skills and ability to coordinate internal and external teams.
• Effective communication and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, clients, authorities and contractors.
• Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, quality orientation and ability to manage unexpected issues and complex constraints.

• Flexibility and availability for site inspections, business travel or site visits when required.
• Written and spoken technical English.
• Motivation and strong company-oriented mindset.

A valid Category B driving licence is required.
