⚡ AEIT HVDC 2025: Innovation and Technology for the Evolution of Power Grids ⚡
The 2025 edition of the AEIT HVDC international conference concluded yesterday in Genoa, one of the leading events dedicated to HVDC power transmission and distribution technologies, organised by AEIT and the AEE Electric Energy Society.
Representing NX Engineering S.r.l., Eng. Michele Campofiloni attended the conference, which brought together system operators, universities, research centres, industry representatives and consultants from across Europe to discuss the current state, practical applications and future perspectives of HVDC, MVDC and LVDC networks.
📍 The event opened with a keynote speech by Enrico Maria Carlini on the evolution of electrical networks through HVDC technology, highlighting the significant investments expected across Europe in the coming years, with reference to the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP).
🗣️ During the panel discussion “Experiences and Perspectives for HVDC Technologies and Grids”, Daniele Buscemi illustrated the contribution of Trench Group within the HVDC sector, while Arman Derviskadic from Hitachi Energy shared the company’s vision for the evolution of HVDC grids, emphasising the importance of advanced control and protection solutions.
Chiara Gandolfi presented the perspective of research and of Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico – RSE S.p.A., highlighting how the discussion today extends beyond HVDC to include MVDC and LVDC systems as well.
👉 Throughout the first day, significant attention was dedicated to scientific and operational contributions related to system modelling, grid planning and the development of key HVDC plant components.
👉 The second day focused on distributed MVDC and LVDC applications, with particular attention to converter modelling aimed at ensuring system reliability and stability, while supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.
AEIT HVDC 2025 once again proved to be an important international forum for technical and scientific exchange, essential for addressing the challenges of reliability, sustainability, control and flexibility of future power networks.
